It's been the most versatile Magicshine light since it's launch and now it's got even brighter. The outside light heads provide purely wide angle vision and this upgrade to a combined total of 800 lumens enables experienced and novice riders alike to ride the roughest, narrowest of trails with more confidence. Add 1000 lumens from a brighter punchier beam and with 1800 lumens in total, you have Magicshine's most powerful bike light. You choose from 2 wide angle beams, the single distance light or the combination of all 3 for a truly awesome night time riding experience. Whichever mode you choose, the lights can be dimmed down or brightened steplessly through the command module which can be located right next to your thumb, meaning no more taking your hands off the bars to change brightness levels. The command module also has a self contained fuel gauge which changes colour to warn you of reducing battery levels.

 

Mounting Mounting the lighthead to the bars is by the tried and tested Magicshine 'O' ring system. It's simple, effective and quick and allows you to mount the light head in well under a minute. The remote control command module is mounted in the same way. However this can be located right next to your thumb. This allows you to change mode, even on the roughest and fastest of trails without removing your hand from the bars. Battery The MJ-816E comes with a standard Magicshine BAK battery. However we recognise that many customers prefer our German made Open Light Systems batteries for extended running times, complete waterproofing and improved build quality.  Open Light Systems use only the best battery cells on the market, currently Panasonic. They have developed their own PCB (Protecttive Circuit Board) to protect against over charge discharge, short circuiting, incorrect charging as well as polarity reversal. In short this is a quality battery that won't let you down and in fact it's used as standard on our premium light brand, MyTinySun. The batteries we supply are all Magicshine compatible with a Magicshine type connection and they can all be used with the orginal chargers. During production, every battery is checked several times to ensure it is fully charged, 100% waterproof and 100% safe - as you would expect.  Open-Light Test Procedures

• Altitude simulation - simulates air transport in real conditions.
• Thermal Test - Assesses if the battery can operate in extreme thermal conditions over long periods.
• Vibration Test - after all, you ride your bike in the toughest of conditions.
• Shock Test - Just in case...!

• Overcharge/Overload Testing - Tests the ability of a battery to withstand overload conditions.
• Forced Discharge Test - The ability to withstand a foced discharge.
• EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) - After all, you don't want your battery to affect your bike computer, heart rate monitor etc. Needless to say, Open-Light Systems batteries had 100% pass rate on all products. Thats why we chose them!

4 out of 5 because you always know somewhere there may be something better.. But forget that: First of all there were unfortunate post issues, the fault of neither MagicShineUK or myself but their customer support was quick to reply and resolved the issue at their own cost - I thank them for that and could not of asked for more. The lamp is very bright, but you may have assumed that. I was replacing a 500~ lumen lamp called NukeLight which while very effective on the street was not so good off-road, the light would just be absorbed by the dark forest. The MJ-816E is clearly designed for this sort of task and floods the forward area with light. One thing to keep in mind is the reviews are right in that the head unit can slip a little on metal bars but this is easily fixed with a little grip tape for it to sit on. Otherwise I feel the battery indicator on the switch is a little too bright if facing you at night, handy certainly but could be dimmer to avoid glare.
