We're delighted to offer an upgraded version of our best selling light. The Magicshine MJ-808 bicycle light has always been the cheapest high power bike light available in the UK. However, with an upgraded CREE LED, the MJ-808E model  now throws out an unbelievable 1000 lumens.

This is a light we use each and every night during winter and believe us, it's amazing. It's brighter than a car headlight and 20 times brighter than ordinary bike lights. However if it's too bright, simply click the power down a notch or two and save battery power at the same time.

The MJ-808E keeps the same tried and tested features as the MJ-808. It's compact, lightweight and easily mounted to your bike in less than a minute using the tried and tested Magicshine 'O'ring system.

The lighthead is of the same compact dimensions as the original model and offers a choice of power, including an SOS flashing mode simply by clicking through the cycle. The clicky switch at the rear of the head also contains colour coded LEDs which change colour from green, to blue, to yellow, finally turning red when you run dangerously low on power. Then it's time to select the 'get me home' power mode using minimal power to ensure you reach your destination in safety. 

 

Battery Choice

 

We've teamed up with top German battery manufacturer, Open-Light Systems to give you a choice of battery. We know that many of you will still see the Magicshine standard battery as great value. However we also recognise that many of you are willing to pay a premium for a battery thats of higher quality. 100% waterproof, even safer and lasts longer. 

 

Open Light Systems

 

We are now the preferred distributor for Open-Light Systems, a German company which uses the best battery cells on the market, currently Panasonic. They have developed their own PCB (Protective Circuit Board) to protect against over charge discharge, short circuiting, incorrect charging as well as polarity reversal. In short this is a quality battery that won't let you down and in fact it's used as standard on our premium light brand, MyTinySun. The batteries we supply are all Magicshine compatible with a Magicshine type connection and they can all be used with the orginal chargers. During production, every battery is checked several times to ensure it is fully charged, 100% waterproof and 100% safe - as you would expect.   

 

Light Test Procedures

 

• Altitude simulation - simulates air transport in real conditions.
• Thermal Test - Assesses if the battery can operate in extreme thermal conditions over long periods.
• Vibration Test - after all, you ride your bike in the toughest of conditions.
• Shock Test - Just in case...!
• Short Circuit Test - simulates short circuits.
• Impact Test - Tests for safety in the event of impact.
• Overcharge/Overload Testing - Tests the ability of a battery to withstand overload conditions.
• Forced Discharge Test - The ability to withstand a foced discharge.
• EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) - After all, you don't want your battery to affect your bike computer, heart rate monitor etc. Needless to say, Open-Light Systems batteries had 100% pass rate on all products. Thats why we chose them!

Great powerful bean, you feel you are "blasting" the forest! Decent battery duration for entry-level battery. Little minors: handlebar fixing could be a bit better. "Blinking mode" is useless except to really annoy cars. Posted on 31/08/2011 09:09:00
