It’s that time of year again when your bike lights are ready to be let out of the box and join you on your night rides! Autumn is arriving fast and as the wet weather and dark nights set in, you will be thinking about waking up your light or buying a new one for the season ahead.

We think autumn is one of the best times of the year for riding and as the colours change so do the conditions. Wet leaves, muddy trails and gritted roads mean that your bike is going to go through much more wear and tear than normal so it is extremely important to keep it clean and in good condition. It is also important to keep your bicycle lights clean with a little bit of maintenance.

We’ve put together some simple tips for keeping your light in good condition:

1.  When not in use, keep your light in the original packaging. This way you won’t forget where you have placed it and it will also avoid any scratches or accidents if it is left out on the side.

2.  Get into the habit of disconnecting the light head from the battery when being stored.

3.  If you’ve been caught out in the rain, make sure you take the battery out of the wet battery bag and dry the bag separately.

4.  Store in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight (the batteries like to be stored in the fridge!)

5.  Clean your light regularly. We recommend cleaning excess mud and debris off the light with a soft toothbrush after your rides.
