Calum Anderton is just 14 years old and already making a huge impression in the cycling world, Magicshine UK have decided that he is the sort of young man that we should be supporting, here's what his Dad has to say about him.

"Calum has been racing bikes a relatively short time - 18 months, but in that short time has had huge success. Mainly due to his determination, passion and grit to win.

In that short time of racing Calum has excelled at a number of disciplines.  He qualified and competed in the National GHS Time Trial competition last year, finishing a credible 6th in his age category, at this stage he had only been time trialling for a few months.

He has won numerous local Cross Country Mountain Bike races and is currently leading the Southern XC mountain Bike series.

September 2010 Calum took part in his first Cyclocross race.  14 rounds later and he was awarded the London Cyclocross League Trophy as the overall league winner.  He won the league convincingly and in numerous rounds was pushing the front of the under 16's race.

Calum trains very hard, riding well over 100 miles per week, the majority of these are during the Winter/Spring/Autumn on dark, wet roads.  Calum does not like to train on the turbo trainer, he would rather be out riding in the winter, no matter what the weather, keeping his training up.  A good winter of training and racing Cyclocross has meant that this summer Calum is in fantastic condition and has recently started to make his foray into Road Racing.

Calum plans to compete in the Cyclocross National Trophy, London Cyclcross League and the GHS Time Trial competition in the coming months and possible attempt a Cyclocross race or two in Belgium.

Calum will be competing as a 1st year under 16 this coming season, the racing will be fast and furious and results harder to come by, but his fitness and experience can only improve and results will come his way."

Good Luck from everyone here at Magicshine UK Calum!

7.2.12 As we're approaching the end of the Cyclocross season we've had a quick update of Calum's sucess.

It looks like Calum will achieve 3rd spot overall in the London League, with the two riders above him moving up a category next season meaning it all looks good for Calum next year.  He's had one win this season in his final league meeting.

Calum attended the launch of his new team KyKlos/Edco Race Team in Northumberland over the weekend and also attended a boot camp with MaxGear racing.  He's just started the process of applying to represent the SE in the UK School Games, so fingers crossed for that one.
